History of the Blue Yonder Blues Band
Back
in early 2006 a bunch of musicians started hanging out at a place that
hosts a blues jam called Red House in Walnut, CA. Within a few months,
many of the musicians, seeking new experiences, started talking about
forming bands. George Cooper and Roy Smith put some blues songs together
and asked Damon Reed to join them in a one off performance. The band
was called Blue Midnight. One of the people in the crowd that night
was one of the regular jam buddies, Harmonica player Mike Hernandez.
By late 2006, Mike asked Roy to join with him to form a Chicago style
harmonica blues band. Jumping at the chance, they quickly formed and
named the band “Blue Yonder”. By early 2008 Blue Yonder had evolved
to include Mike Harmonica & Vocals, George Guitar and Vocals, Damon
Bass, and Roy Guitar/Slide Guitar and Vocals. Drummer Bill Patterson
rounds out the band on drums, with his powerful jazz style.

Today,
Blue Yonder prides itself on tasteful song selection, with their own
unique arrangements of classic songs. Blue Yonder is known for their
upbeat tempos that get people onto the dance floor. They blend classic
blues, with jazz, soul, country, rock & roll, blues rock and an occasional
reggae tune. Blue Yonder performs comfortabley as an electric band
and/or acoustic band. Check out our website, listen to the music, watch
